Ultima Online producer Bonnie Armstrong has stepped down from the role.
Armstrong recently shared a note to the community announcing her departure from the role. Taking over as producer will be Greg Havlusch, also known as Kyronix, Going forward, he will be the one who will be making decisions on the next roadmap, game systems, and content. Armstrong will not be completely departing, however, as she will continue owning responsibility for customer service (AKA) Game Masters and event moderators.
The move is a transition, after working on the game for 26 years, in order “to work in my greenhouse, play with puppies, and snuggle with my hubby”.
Calling the decision to scale back her responsibilities and step down as producer, Armstrong said that it was “a difficult decision but one that is good for me”. Now she'll have some time off to work on that garden and spend time with family. She also thanks the community and those on the team she has worked with over the years.
Ultima Online has been running since September 1997, more than 27 years now. This really puts into perspective how long Armstrong has been working on the game, spending the last portion of it as producer.
UO continues, along with the special ruleset New Legacy servers opening last fall.
