Ubisoft during an earnings call today announced that the company would be at E3 2023, though CEO Yves Guillemont's wording might have thrown many for a loop.
During the investor call, CEO Yves Guillemot stated that Ubisoft would attend the show in Los Angeles, "If E3 happens."
"If E3 happens, we will be there and we will have a lot fo things to show," the gaming CEO said ont the earnings call this morning. As far as why Guillemot cast doubt on the show happening itself is unclear, especially as new E3 organizer ReedPop had to recently assure fans that the show was still going to be a strong showing after sources stated the big 3 in the games industry, Microsoft, Nintendo and PlayStation, would not have a booth presence.
Despite casting a shadow on E3 through his oddly worded statement, Ubisoft fans should be heartened at the idea that Ubisoft will have quite a bit to show during the event. While we don't exactly what they would bring, we can imagine it will likely see the return of Skull & Bones, which has been delayed once again, the new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin's Creed Mirage and more.
E3 2023 marks the first return to Los Angeles and an in-person event for what was the premiere gaming event each year since 2019. E3 2023 is being organized by a new company, ReedPOP, who has success organizing some of the largest events in the gaming industry, such as PAX and the New York Comic Con, among others. What shape E3 2023 will take is still unclear, and how ReedPOP is going to put their own spin on things remains to be seen, though with only a few short months until the doors of the LA Convention Center are meant to swing open for E3, hopefully we'll learn more soon.
