With an open beta over a month gone and the official launch two weeks past, Ravendawn is already keeping its communications open with the community. In the second of its “Tavern Journal” blog posts, Tavernlight shared a mix of post-launch patch highlights and what’s to come for the economics-focused MMORPG.
The team led in with some strong “Coming Soon” bits, including player “ignoring” (seems adjacent to blacklisting), breeding Moa’s on Community Land, and, likely most excitedly for some, party experience boosts. The team wanted to incentivize group play as the go-to, as they feel “groups need a bit of an added benefit to make it more viable for standard play (not bosses etc).”
The blog also officially recognized a community poll asking what the next major content players wanted to see was, with “dungeons” taking up 65% of the vote. “We’re devs of the people,” it reads. “The people have spoken.”
Open World Lands and Community Lands’ states were spoken about in some detail as well, with the team buffing Community Lands and promising more balancing and fulfillment for players of all levels.
“Also, while yes, we want Finite (Open World) land to have an edge over Community (Instanced) Land, we want to also make sure that those who do not get Medium or Large Land are not left in the dust longterm because of it,” the post explains. “If you are feeling dread knowing you will not be able to get Medium or Large land, please don’t. We will make sure you’re not left out to dry just because you were not able to play as much as another.” The team assures it has a long-term vision for these features.
Some buffs and nerfs also came through, including for the most important feature of any RPG, fishing. Low-level fishing, as Tavernlight observed, wasn’t rewarding enough for players in the early stages, and so fishes’ health pools were reduced by about 30%, making it easier for players to get through the grind. Protection Zone Lockouts were also reduced so players can prevent griefing, and Tradepacks’ bonus value is now doubled when exchanging through Warmode channels in order to reward the risk better.
Ravendawn keeps track of its full changes in the Discord server’s changelog channel. The MMORPG was officially released January 16th, and the team claims interest has only grown since.
