The latest edition of Steam Next Fest is on now. Among the new demos you can play is one for Bossa Games’ upcoming co-op survival game, Lost Skies.
In Lost Skies, you discover technology, and eventually build your own skyship, travel to the other floating islands that make up what remains of the world, and find traces of ancient civilizations and even find out more about what happened to destroy the world in the first place. It is a survival game, so your skyship is your home, your base, and your warship. You explore, you'll discover new ways to traverse the terrain, unlock secrets, gather resources, learn new things to craft and sometimes, get tested in battle.
You can play the game solo or in up to six player co-op. You and your friends can crew a ship collaboratively, or you can each build your own ship and unite as a fleet. There are various ways to play.
The demo, which is available here, which includes multiplayer, is live now and playable through Monday, March 3rd at 10:00 a.m. PT. To make the release of the demo, the team also released a new trailer teasing the lore and setting things up.
Bossa Games is also one of the latest companies to announce more reorganization and layoffs. In a statement last week on LinkedIn, co-founder Henrique Olifiers says that they are currently “focusing on the late-stage production of Lost Skies and its upcoming launch” After launch, “we'll reshape into small teams working independently on novel game ideas brought to the players as early as possible,” he says. The downsizing is yet to come, but it is coming, and follows layoffs last year.
Still, they are committing to getting Lost Skies finished after three years of work so far, and into players’ hands, and the Steam Next Fest demo starts that. There’s no launch date as of yet.
