Blizzard entertainment has released information about the new trade skill system in their highly anticipated MMORPG, World of Warcraft (WoW). According to Blizzard, there are actually two types of tradeskills, creating an interesting craft system to keep players busy for hours.
The first type of tradeskill is essentially a "gathering" skill. This skill allows you to (these are examples and not necessarily going to be in the game) harvest lumber or gather ore from a mine for example. The next type of tradeskill entails creating the items from raw materials, like carving some lumber into a club or staff for example. The recipes for these tradeskills, according to Blizzard, can be found on monsters, trainers, or in-game vendors.
Blizzard has taken an interesting approach with WoW. Unlike most MMORPGs, tradeskills will require no guesswork, all the recipes will be found in game. Also, if you acquire the ingredients to make an item, you will never fail on the tradeskill attempt.
Finally, here is a list of tradeskills taken from the official WoW site:
- Alchemy
- Blacksmithing
- Engineering
- Leatherworking
- Tailoring
- Cooking
- Herb Gathering
- Mining
In addition to those listed above, Blizzard also says that there are even more tradeskills. This is an exciting glimpse into Blizzard's upcoming MMORPG, World of Warcraft.
