When the Celestial Destiny update arrives on April 30th, Tower of Fantasy will add Ji Yu, along with her weapon, Freeflow, to the roster of available simulacra. After introducing her in a lore video earlier this week, Ji Yu gets the first part of her skills showcase.
This first showcase is a brief one, but it begins by showing off some of Ji Yu’s grace, ability, and outfits. After that, we get a look atthe accomplished leader from Domain 9at work. She is a Flame/Physical DPS, so she’ll bring the flame magic to scorch her enemies with physical as a backup. This comes courtesy of her weapon, Freeflow (which was known as “Duality” in the original wiki and fan-translations before her official international reveal).
The showcase may be short, but she does bring the fire, including what seems like some explosive AoE power. Her weapon is symbolized by black and white, yin/yang colored fish, and as with other simulacra in Tower of Fantasy, that theming follows through in her combat. The flames barrel towards enemies, and the fish flow with the flow of her combat.
Not only that, but we get a peek at Generational Leap, which lets her glide in the air on the back of a representative of those fish made large and almost looking like an apparition or summon. We also get a reminder of her lore trailer, which featured Master Yu looking over a Go board and contemplating strategies. That Go board turned into a battlefield. Now, in this showcase, we see Step into the Game, part of her weapon skills, that brings it all together. The visions of the Go board were not just to be symbolic in a trailer, after all.
Celestial Destiny is coming next week, and with it, this master will go from mysterious NPC to a new roster option.
