Tower of Fantasy is coming to PlayStation on August 8th via publisher Perfect World Games.
The open, shared world MMO is making its way over to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 4K for a new way to enjoy everything from the cyberpunk bright city of Mirroria to the Grand Sea and its new ways to explore the world. The next zone in the game, Domain 9, is coming next week, so by the time the PlayStation 5 release arrives, Domain 9 will be included.
Developer Hotta Studio (a subsidiary of Perfect World Games) says that Tower of Fantasy has an active playerbase in the “tens of millions” so a release on PS5 makes sense in broadening access. This follows the mobile release and later, the game's PC launch. With the PlayStation 5 version in 4K, it will be another way to see the world with its different zones and biomes, and to experience the fast action combat of the game’s growing selection of simulacra.
Speaking of simulacra, the PlayStation trailer features yet-unreleased Liu Huo, whose outfits are Eastern inspired. Her weapon, a large brush called ”Pine Comet” lets her combine elements of Chinese calligraphy with martial arts and even ink painting style in her combat moves. With brushstrokes and color, she creates blue and orange flames with her abilities.
One of the things that won’t be happening with the PlayStation release is cross-progression. In a recent statement, the teams tried working out details to make cross-progression happen, but they couldn’t.
“Unfortunately, despite our collective and extensive efforts, we have yet to find a solution to make cross-progression a reality due to challenges with cross-platform storage server deployment.”
We have received numerous inquiries and discussions regarding Cross-Progression on PlayStation. Here's a statement to provide context. Rest assured, we're actively collaborating with our partners to enhance the gaming experience for all players. #TowerofFantasy pic.twitter.com/9hSsy3fgpE
