Chivalry 2 developer Torn Banner Studios has announced the end of the game’s development, effectively putting Chivalry 2 into maintenance mode.
In a new post published to the game’s official website, Torn Banner Studios president and creative director Steve Piggott wrote that the team’s goal was to at least double the size of Chivalry 2 post-launch via the addition of new maps, modes, weapons, features and more.
After 3 years of updates and the 10th major content update released back in March and its 11th in May, the team feels it has succeeded in this goal, and now considers the game to be “feature complete.” These last two updates adding features such as unofficial server support, skill based team balance, a new cinematic team objective map titled “Citadel” and more.
Torn Banner will now shift its focus towards “compelling new multiplayer projects” in the Chivalry universe and also its upcoming eight player co-op action horror game titled No More Room in Hell 2. Even though development will cease on Chivalry 2, Torn Banner has noted its commitment to continue to support the game when it comes to critical issues that may arise in the future. Online services will also remain active, supporting both official and unofficial servers as well as matchmaking.
