Tomorrow's Lost Ark Patch is Coming to Fix the Accidentally Roster-Bound Items

Tomorrow’s Lost Ark update will be a maintenance update. As promised, the update will correct an issue with items accidentally released as roster-bound instead of character-bound.

The update notes have been released, and the downtime this week is estimated to last for about four hours. Things will begin tomorrow at 12 AM PST/ 8 AM UTC. This looks like it will encompass the usual weekly maintenance as well as fix the Twinkle Twinkle Exchange shop issue.

If you missed the details, the recent anniversary update that launched last week had a significant error within. Well, depending on how you view the situation. The anniversary update launched the Twinkle Twinkle Exchange shop, through which you could exchange for certain chests. These chests, Honor shard Random Chest, Honor Leapstone Random Chest, and Support Honing Random Chests were added in ways that made the items you could get roster-bound instead of character-bound as intended.

Such an error would mean that items could be used by multiple characters on your account, so this could be destabilizing since it was unintended. Initially, the plan was to just make all of the roster-bound rewards character-bound instead, but after community feedback, the team changed course. Since some players were able to buy items that they believed were roster-bound, it would be difficult and somewhat unfair to leave them in, but change future rewards to the intended character-bound restriction, and also unfair to just change them outright.

So the middle ground has been reached, with the Lost Ark team having frozen all of the affected chests and turned off the ability to exchange for any of them at this time. After the update is live, all of the previous chests will be removed from player inventories, and any gold prices refunded. With this, there will be a compensation package that includes several different chests, and the exchange shop will be open for longer, lasting two weeks into the March update.
