Last week we reported that TitanReach has found a wealthy backer that was able to provide enough funds for the team at Square Root Studios to return to development. In keeping with the plan that they unveiled in an interview on KiraTV last week, Sqrt will be returning the game into private development as they get back to work.

In a statement on the official Discord from Hayden (Unravel) Dee, TitanReach will be pulled back into private development, by shutting off the servers and removing the client download link from the website. In addition, the website will also go through an overhaul as they integrate their web infrastructure to work alongside the game. You can read the whole announcement on the discord, or via the screenshot below:

As a short recap, in late August Square Root Studios regrettably told their audience that the game would no longer be able to continue proper development, as they have run out of funds. The founders of the game planned to continue development as a hobby, while the majority of the staff moved on to other projects and jobs outside of the company. In a stroke of luck, Unravel was approached by a wealthy backer interested in funding the game with a no-strings attached fund transfer, which was graciously accepted. According to Unravel, about 8 of the original team will return, and Square Root will now transition into a hiring phase, where they hope to employ around 23 developers to bring the game to fruition.

How the scope of TitanReach will change moving forward is certainly a topic of interest. TitanReach is described as a reimagining of old-school MMORPGs, where players will unlock new abilities, learn skills, and defeat difficult and dangerous bosses. Over the course of the next few months we look forward to hearing how the project is developing.
