Titan Quest II will push back its Early Access launch to summer to avoid “a lot of noise with regards to ARPG in our targeted release window”. THQ Nordic is sharing feedback from the most recent playtest and what to expect moving forward.

The playtest featured the game’s intro chapter, Using the world and the setting and letting you choose your masteries, and eventually the first big boss fight in Apollonia the Terrible (which most found not terrible, but fun).

Overall playtest experience, as shown by player surveys, was positive for 92% of testers. There was praise for the visuals and audio, along with high marks for things like exploration, the narrative events and the world itself. Combat got a mid-range, balanced difficulty rating and positive overall feedback.  With those numbers, including that 66% of respondents also played Titan Quest 1, it seems like the sequel is starting off in a good place.

There were areas that need improvement, particularly in combat, with some sluggishness, aiming needs a little work, and certain abilities need some balance passes. There are optimizations moving forward to get to 1.0, and of course to the Early Access launch.

For what's ahead, they are preparing for Early Access and continuing with those fixes and improvements based on testing feedback. The devs announced two features aimed at classic fans, including the classic scheme where you move and attack on your left mouse, and the option of mouse to move or WASD keys.

The full update has more info on the playtest survey and changes on the way.
