Titan: Blizzard Confirms Project's Cancelation

In an interview with Polygon, Blizzard co-founder and CEO Mike Morhaime revealed the news that Project Titan has been canceled after seven years. Morhaime went on to say that Titan's development never found its 'spark' and that the team felt that the game was not something it wanted to continue.

Many Blizzard fans had hoped that Titan would be a next-generation follow up to World of Warcraft, perhaps World of Warcraft II. More about Titan was scheduled to be released sometime in 2014, according to earlier statements from Blizzard. Sadly, at least at this point, what Titan was to have been remains undiscovered.

Chris Metzen, Blizzard's senior vice president of story and franchise development, called the decision to cancel Titan "excruciating." Morhaime agreed: "It's always really, really hard to make those kind of decisions. It was hard when we canceled Warcraft Adventures. It was hard when we canceled StarCraft Ghost. But it has always resulted in better-quality work."
