Tibia is Getting Its First New Playable Class Ever - The Monk

Tibia, which Cipsoft has been running for 28 years, is getting its first new playable class. The Monk is set to arrive in Q2 this year with testing starting later this month.

The team announced the Monk in a new blog with a teaser video, Introducing the new vocation (class) and how they came about adding one after decades. In considering adding a brand new vocation for the first time ever, they wanted to make sure that this class would complement the others without undermining the four existing vocations or becoming the thing everyone flocks to and making the other ones feel obsolete.

The Monk is based in martial arts and mystical abilities that will help them not only defeat enemies, but make them capable of supporting and healing their allies. “A Monk can be played in a very special way and, at the same time, is expected to integrate seamlessly into the Tibian world” according to the team. Since they've been working on this for a while, they promised that when the class debuts, there will be plenty of content ready to go, including spells and special robes and weapons and more that will accompany its release.

Over the next couple of weeks, we can expect more details, including how they came about development, lore, spells, items, and also those special gameplay mechanics they're talking about.
