The first major expansion for NCSoft and Amazon Games’s Throne & Liberty, titled Wilds of Talandre, is only a day away with a March 6 launch, and the patch notes have arrived for players to peruse and plan.
Much of what’s coming was introduced in prior community videos and blogs, such as the Wilds of Talandre Deep Dive video and the latest edition of Tico Talks, which get more into the general content side than the patch notes do. However, with the patch notes, we have a better idea of specifics to look out for.
One of the biggest changes is, of course, the Weapon Mastery revamp that lets players level it regardless of what weapon is equipped at the time. The patch notes go over the specifics of how to unlock the weapons’ “nodes,” as there’ll be a cost to these as well as how to get Heroic Nodes. If you have Training Dew, it’ll be converted into Weapon Mastery Seals for this new system.
The Milestones continue, of course, and we now have the full upcoming schedule. It’s a lot to just put here, but there’s something nearly every day for both or either US East and US West servers. Plus, the Castle Siege scheduled for March 9 has been pushed back to the 23rd in order to let players play the new expansion and dungeons.
A new Weekly Mission System is kicking in, letting players pick from 15 activities each week; they note that the new system gives more Weekly Points than are necessary for each week’s rewards so that players can choose which activities they actually want to (or have time to) engage in.
Some other additions include Tier 2 items, the Artifact system for Nebula Island and Abyss Dungeons, a new Event Pass, and, very importantly, more fishing content.
There are also some general gameplay changes in the patch notes. A big one to note is that changing or removing passive skill effects during combat invokes a 15-second cooldown to all abilities, similar to how it would happen if you were to change equipped items. Some skills without a cooldown now have a literal less-than-half-second cooldown, and some short-range melee weapons have slightly more attack distance.
There are ton of similar minor but important changes on the full patch notes page, as well as more details on some of the new and updated features. For more on the content, especially Talandre and Weapon Mastery, the Wilds of Talandre Deep Dive video goes over it, while a combat-specific community team video talks more about some of the system changes.
