NCSoft’s most recent financial release makes reference to the upcoming release of Throne and Liberty, with some new details.
According to the financial report, and subsequent presentation, the game is still on track for the first half of 2023, and the final Korean play tests will be taking place next week (as reported by fansite Throne and Liberty Online) . Those final Korean play tests will happen between February 21st and 22nd. and see soft plans to then launch the pre-launch marketing campaign in Korea. However, there's no indication yet as to when the Korean launch date might be, but the beginning of the campaign should bring more info to light once the marketing push begins.
There is said to be a presentation on the way once the campaign in Korea begins rolling out, but the first half of 2023, which was confirmed in late 2022, is the only window we have so far. They still have not yet revealed their global partner for the launch outside of Korea but we should expect that announcement relatively soon. Chief Financial Officer Hong Won-jun says that they won’t be able to reveal more info on potential global playtests or related matters until the international partner is revealed. There have been some rumors that it might be Amazon getting the global deal, but there isn’t any confirmation just yet.
Once the global publisher is revealed, then we should expect much more info to come. For now, those interested will have to keep their eyes on the Korean playtests and what comes after they close.
In addition to the details on Throne and Liberty, NCSoft reported a new record for annual revenue, fueled by growth. Among the highlights were a 29% increase in revenue for Guild Wars 2, boosted by the release of End of Dragons, and the continued success of the Lineage franchise.
