In the latest developer diary on the Lord of the Rings Online site, Ben Schneider has a pleasant surprise for players looking for, as he put it, "hard". In the next update, currently scheduled for next week, players will be able to take part in two three-player instances and one full fellowship instance that will scale from levels 50-100.
The cluster is set in Osgiliath, with each containing two tiers and a cap-level challenge, according to Schneider. The dungeons have their own lore quest chain attached with Tier 1 designed for all players. Tier 2 and the Challenge are where the "hard" part comes into play.
Rewards are also returning to "group loot" and each dungeon tier will feature its own unique rewards, the most prized being in the Challenge tier with its reward of Morgul Crests.
The clusters are:
- Sunken Labyrinth beneath Osgiliath
- The Ruined City where someone dressed as Faramir keeps one step ahead of the group
- Dome of the Stars for the full fellowship where players take on a Nazgul
