World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic is coming next week, and the team is ramping up with previews, unlock times, and some of what to expect if you’re looking to jump in.
On May 20th, Cataclysm Classic unlocks globally at 3pm PDT, with seven new zones and nine dungeons. Later, on May 28th, the new PvP season begins. Finally, on May 30th, three raid dungeons– The Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, and Throne of the Four Winds–will unlock, also at 3pm PDT.
As for those zones, the devblog helps if you need a refresher on how to orient yourself after Azeroth is forever changed. Two of the zones are already live thanks to the pre-patch. Those are Kezan, the new starting zone for the goblin race, and Gilneas, starting zone for the worgen.
Unlocking on May 20th are Mount Hyjal, Vashj’ir, Deepholm, Uldum, and Twilight Highlands. Mount Hyjal is sacred to the night elves, and currently under siege. You can help. Vashj’ir takes you underwater, where you can learn about the mysterious naga. Deepholm is in the Elemental Plane, and also where Deathwing originally returned. Uldum bears secrets within its dangerous deserts. Those secrets include some powerful artifacts Deathwing and his allies seek. Finally, in Twilight Highlands you’ll find much conflict, but also potential power.
As for those dungeons, when the expansion is live, so will be Blackrock Caverns, Throne of the Tides, Vortex Pinnacle, The Stonecore, The Lost City of Tol’vir, The Halls of Origination, Grim Batol, Deadmines, and Shadowfang Keep. Then, there are those raids: The Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, and Throne of the Four Winds.
All of the boss details are listed in the preview if you need an introduction or reminder, but prepare to take on Twilight’s Hammer cultists, dragons, altered creatures, and more Deathwing allies.
World of Warcraft Cataclysm Classic PvP Season 9 will feature Rated Arenas and Battlegrounds with a weekly reset. This will begin May 28th and, of course, adds new gear to seek.
