The Witcher 4 will not be “Witcher 3 in new clothing” according to joint CEO Michal Nowakowski in statements made during CD Project Red’s latest earnings briefing.

Nowakowski says the team intends to “push new boundaries and explore new fields” with The Witcher 4. Players should expect to see “new gameplay elements and new mechanics” not seen in the studio’s previous games when The Witcher 4 eventually drops.

Speaking of release dates, Nowakowski wouldn’t provide any details here, only stating that “revealing release dates is part of the marketing plan, and that’s not something we’re willing to do here.” Our best information on The Witcher 4’s release date are comments made by CDPR management in 2022, stating that 2025 is the earliest we might see the game.

Still, it sounds like things are moving along well for The Witcher 4, with Nowakowski calling it the studio’s “most developed” project currently. The title is still in pre-production, but the studio expects to enter production in the second half of the year. Aside from The Witcher 4, CDPR is also working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher remake, an unannounced Witcher title, as well as a new IP codenamed Hadar.
