If you didn't get in on early access, World of Warcraft opened the doors to The War Within expansion today at 3:00 p.m. PDT. The expansion, the first part of the three-part Worldsoul Saga, brings new zones and features, new challenges, new and returning Legacy characters, and much more. Blizzard has also made the expansion’s soundtrack available on streaming in case you can't wait to dive in.
The expansion has now unlocked globally. You can explore new zones, including the nerubian empire where Xal'atath has returned and is gathering and building new forces, particularly of the arachnid kind, in order to make her plans for Azeroth, and some heavy destruction, come true. Blizzard is even adding its first ever arachnophobia accessibility mode for the expansion.
Xal'atath won’t be the usual antagonist though, since she will turn up throughout the entire saga. Given that, there's a whole lot of other things to do in the expansion, including many more details in the narrative. With three announced expansions, part of the reason Blizzard announced them all together was the intention to create this in-depth and huge narrative journey.
Among the new features are Delves, small new instances that you can take on Solo or with up to four friends and an NPC companion to earn rewards. You’ll meet new and returning characters, and among them are a new playable race, the Earthen. you'll have to meet them and unlock them as a playable race after completing some quests and the overall campaign. The Earthen are titan forged and made from living stone.
Hero Talents are finally launching, offering new unlocks to customize your class specialization even more with new powers and more. Earn talent points as you level up and choose how to spend them. In addition to new dungeons and raids, there's also a new Battleground, Deephaul Ravine. This is a 10v10 payload style Battleground. For Battleground Blitz, it’s 8v8.
There's more to discover, and now you'll be able to. Ahead of the expansion launch, Blizzard put the soundtrack on streaming services.
