After two years, Black Desert Console finally has the Mountain of Eternal Winter update, along with its frigid new zone, quests, and important snowy weather system.
The Mountain of Eternal Winter is an entirely new region and it comes with a new questline, a new player hub, boss, and a whole series of new endgame locations. There are new characters to meet and learn about–and learn from. (Make sure you say hi to Lando, the snow fox, one of the best parts of the update.)
Pearl Abyss is also not kidding about that eternal winter thing, since everything is constantly snowy. This isn't just for show though since The update introduces the frostbite debuff. you get frostbite by spending too much time in a snowstorm, and these storms will just randomly appear in the region. At higher altitudes, you risk more snow storms. There are ways to prepare and protect yourself, and this will be necessary to learn if you want to explore the new region.
With all of these additions, there are new creatures to hunt, new monster zones, and rewards to match. They include polar bears, wolves, snow leopards, pikas, and more. Spend time in the new endgame areas like Okjinsini territory, Jade Starlight Forest, battle some new creatures, and run the chance of awakening Erebjork the Dreadwinter Guardian boss, who will be happy to oblige if you're looking for a challenge. With that kind of title, she's pretty formidable, and wields a giant ice axe and shield. You may even encounter other versions within snowstorms.
Roaming around the new terrain will feature a number of dangers but also lots of new things to discover, items to obtain, craft, and of course, brand new gear. Another rewarding endgame area, Murrowak’s Labyrinth, is deep within Sherekhan Abandoned Iron Mine. Take a party of up to six to enter the zone and battle the Murraska swarms within. Defeat enough of the infestation, and get a chance at Vercedes, the queen. When she arrives the clock starts ticking on defeating her.
