Indie MMO The Wagadu Chronicles is making its early access debut on Steam next month, launching on the platform on December 4th.
The Steam page was set up back in August, with developer Twin Drums announcing their intent to bring the isometric MMO to early access this year. Well, the company announced that interested players will be able to jump into the MMO starting on December 4th.
The Wagadu Chronicles is billed as a sandbox MMO where crafting, gathering, and working with other players is a priority in the Afrofantasy-inspired world of Wagadu. Twin Drums touts a freely customizable character creator, where players can focus on the skills they want to pursue, whether it be a warrior, farmer, musician - or a combination of skills to create your perfect character.
Crafting and building are major facets of gameplay, with players able to join guilds (called a Society in Wagadu) and build villages together. The in-game economy is also player-driven, so player trading and markets are a crucial backbone to the social aspect of the MMO.
You can learn more and even wishlist the MMO on the official Steam page. The Wagadu Chronicles raised quite a bit of change on its Kickstarter in 2020, and Twin Drums has been working on both the MMO and the accompanying 5E rulebook set in the same world. The MMO is backed by investment from Riot Games as part of Riot's Underrepresented Founder's Program, of which Twin Drums was the first member.
