The Siren Isle arrives today in World of Warcraft: The War Within’s latest content update. Expect a brand new zone, new campaign chapters, new quests, and even a brand new powerful ring.
Head to the island and join up with goblin, earthen, and Arathi teams to explore the mysterious “singing crystal” of Siren Isle. The two new story quests represent an end and a beginning, with the Dalaran Epilogue and Lingering Shadows, which serves as the prologue quest for the Undermine(d) content update.
The update notes are out, and there are some important highlights to know before you step on the island.
The Siren Isle itself bears the marks of a place consistently facing intense storms that regularly wash up dangerous new creatures from the deep. “Storms A Brewin” is a new special assignment where you can face them. There's a new event currency, Flame-Blessed Iron, that you can use to trade for new pets, mounts, transmogs, and gear. Excavations are the new Public Event, where you can contribute Flame-Blessed Iron to the teams there to open up one of the locations to enter and take down the boss inside.
The WoW team is tweaking some racial abilities to try and increase some underused races’ viability, So you may check to see if you're affected. This comes alongside the usual slate of balance changes.
Cross-faction queuing is here, with a few things to keep in mind. You can use the Group Finder to assemble a mixed group for dungeons and unrated PvP. Dungeons will require a pre-made group beforehand, but you can then queue together as a team. If any party members leave, crash out, or are otherwise gone, they won’t be replaced.
This update also offers your first shot at the famed ‘stormcrow’ mount, Thrayir, Eyes of the Siren, which you can release and earn.
Another thing you’ll want to earn is Cyrce’s Circlet, a brand new ring that you get by completing the introductory quest. You’ll want to upgrade it by earning Singing Citrines to slot into the new accessory, to help you in your journey on the island and beyond.
