The Star Citizen site has been updated with the 2017 road map that gives an idea of the tasks the team will be working on with specific regard to the launch of Alpha 3.0 as well as the remainder of 2017. The target date for 3.0 is June 29th. The entire schedule includes a timeline of when each will begin and end, though as with any schedule, it is subject to change.

Several key features will be undergoing development including:

  • Design including the implementation of the redesigned Crusader map and the Mega Map
  • Environment with attention on modular room system to facilitate procedural generation of outposts
  • Tools for a Solar System editor
  • Performance
  • Art assets
  • Coding
  • Planet updates: Yela, Cellin, Daymar

Several things are considered already or very near "feature complete" and will be deploying soon, many coming as early as next month and into the summer. Each section, contains a number of features currently in the pipeline and an estimated date of when they will be finished and targeted for release. Sections include Persistent Universe Content, Gameplay, Core Tech, UI, AI, Graphics, Back End, Network, and Ships & Weapons.

The final piece is the furtherance of each of those sections throughout the balance of 2017.
