Following the first day of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo this month, director and producer of the franchise Naoki Yoshida did a brief but captivating interview giving insight on where the game might be without him around

The Final Fantasy franchise as a whole is one of the largest within the gaming world, and for good reason. The games have left their mark on fans of both RPGs and MMORPGs since 1987 when the first ever game in the series was released, and has only grown in terms of players every day since.

At the end of day one during the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival that took place in Tokyo, Japan, Naoki Yoshida did a joint media interview that discussed several topics, but one in particular jumped out. Where would the game end up if he chose to retire, get fired for any reason, or pass away?

Yoshida makes a few jokes, stating he could pass on in the next 20 or 30 years since he is a “live fast and die young” kind of person, but if that did happen, his team would be just fine to work the game without his guidance. Yoshida states,

“There may not be another person who can talk about the expansion for two hours in front of a huge audience at the Tokyo Dome like me, but I have no doubt that my team can deliver the same information and same amount of excitement.”

Though we hope that Naoki Yoshida is around for a long time to deliver plenty more content to the franchise, we can all rest easy knowing if he does retire it won't be the end all be all of the game whatsoever.
