The PC version of Tom Clancy's The Division 2 will be bypassing a Steam launch. Instead, PC players will be able to purchase digital copies of the game either through Uplay, Ubisoft's own game launcher, or via the Epic Games Store. According to Ubisoft representatives, "We have no plans currently on releasing Tom Clancy's The Division 2 on Steam." Oddly enough, a Steam product page was available up to recently on Steam, though it is now removed.
Ubisoft Vice President Chris Early wrote, "We entrust Epic to deliver a smooth journey for our fans, from preordering the game and enjoying our Beta to the launch of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 on March 15. Epic continues to disrupt the video game industry, and their third party digital distribution model is the latest example, and something Ubisoft wants to support."
With that in mind, the company has plans to "partner on additional select titles to be announced during the coming year".
