The Old School RuneScape community continues to prove just how chaotic it can be thanks to a recent Reddit thread where a player sought advice on how to reclaim a stolen item.
The thread on Reddit posted by user MethIsntCool (great username, btw) saw the poster seek advice on how to reclaim an incredibly powerful and exceedingly expensive item that was stolen from them. The item in question? A Kodai Wand, which sells for a cool 96.4 million gold in the game.
So, you know, pocket change.
The wand was lent to MethIsntCool's cousin back when they packed up their RuneScape character in 2021 after the birth of their first child. However, they apparently made it clear to their cousin that they would want the wand back once they logged back into their account down the road.
However, it seems that the cousin in question also decided to focus on their new-found parenthood and let their let their Old School RuneScape character collect some dust, the wand fully in tow.
MethIsntCool is now back in the world of Gielinor, yet doesn't have their prized wand. The player looked towards the bastion of good advice, Reddit, to try to figure out the best way to ask for the wand back without the need to ruffle feathers at an upcoming family gathering.
"I will be seeing my cousin in person for Thanksgiving, and I am trying to think of a tactful way to ask for my Kodai wand back. We are both grown ass adults with families. How can I successfully pull him aside and ask this man to log into his childhood point-and-click game, navigate the 2-factor authenticator he hasn't used in over a year, and buy membership so he can trade me my magic wand?"
However, the responses were...predictably unhinged, with one Redditor, GatoDiablo99, literally telling the OP to "ruin his life."
"Don’t be an adult about it. Cause havoc. Ruin his life. This is RuneScape. More important than his dumb ass child," GatoDiablo99 suggested. Another top comment on the thread suggested keylogging and password stealing. Another Redditor BurlyGiraffe (Quick aside - Reddit names are on point in this thread), suggests the long game.
Thankfully, the wand was returned, and all it took was showing the cousin this unhinged thread of advice. Apparently, Gato's comment sent the cousin over the edge, choosing to go through the complicated procedure of re-accessing his account versus being ruined instead.
Ta, GamesRadar.
