The Next Guild Wars 2 WvW Restructuring Beta Begins Today, With a New System Being Tested

Guild Wars 2 began the latest round of World vs. World Restructuring beta today. This test will run through June 23rd and the system will be testing new systems with a different structure this time.

This time, the team is overhauling how teams are created in WvW to help improve the player population balance. World Restructuring, instead of using worlds or servers as the basis for forming teams, it will use the World versus World guild you are in to place you on a team with your chosen community.

ArenaNet first announced what this would look like back in 2021. Matchmaking is coming where players, guilds, and alliances will be distributed to teams on a set schedule. So this should create more stability without having the whole system be subject to population fluctuations. This also lets you have more agency in deciding which community you want to stick with.

The team is planning to run two matchups in a row for the first time using this new system. This is something they're doing so they can test the one up, one down matching system at scale.  This new beta has already begun. If you wanted to be with a guild of your choosing you would have had to pick that by yesterday, but you can still queue up as an individual if you just want to test out the system.

After they've run this test, they're planning to run another beta test later in the summer that will introduce the first version of the new Alliances system, which is designed to let guilds combine forces and be placed on the same WvW team together.

If you participate in the beta, you'll be able to unlock a skin from the WvW-exclusive War Machine weapon set. While the beta is ongoing, there will be a special bonus event with a double XP bonus for World experience, 25% bonus to reward track progress, and a 50% bonus to magic find.

For more, head to Guild Wars 2.
