The Lord of the Rings Online is celebrating its 17th anniversary this year, and with it comes new cosmetics, fireworks, and a new furry friend pet to keep you company during those dungeon runs.

Let's not bury the lede: I want that firework hamster. The Tome of the Sienna Hamster is one of the myriad anniversary items you can barter for during the event, and it's reminding me of the other firework-laden pets on my tool bar. I love the idea of being deep in the depths of Carn Dum, a hamster faithfully following along, with the random "pew pews!" of its fireworks trailing close behind.

I mean, look at this thing! It's awesome!

Other anniversary items include a ton of Green Dragon Inn-inspired garb, from a full on outfit inspired by the Hobbit drinking hole to a War-steed cosmetic, bringing new meaning to the phrase, "the only brew for the brave and true" when you next rush through the fields of Rohan.

Standard Anniversary items are also sent to players as part of their log-in rewards, including a new portrait frame for those who have adventured in Middle-earth these last seventeen years (or a new frame based on your account age), as well as fireworks and a new title for both Freeps and Creeps.

It's been an interesting few weeks for the LotRO team, as the servers recently had a weekend full of unexpected downtime. The raid and related instances for the last expansion, Corsairs of Umbar, also recently released for players to dive headlong into, with update 39.1.2 unlocking Tier 4 of The Depths of Mâkhda Khorbo raid.
