Standing Stone Games have released Update 40: Beneath the Surface for The Lord of the Rings Online. It’s a been a long time coming as fans have been waiting for the update to make it through numerous rounds of testing before finally being deployed this week.
Update 40 adds the “Neaths” DLC which offers quests for level 150 players beneath the city of Umbar. Players can jump right into the content with Chapter 9 “The Song of Waves and Wind” by speaking to Jaith outside the Meeting-hall of Dar Laja in the Upper Ward of Umbar city. Standing Stone Games recommends playing through the first eight chapters before doing so, but this isn’t a hard requirement. Additional side quests are available throughout the five sections of Umbar-môkh.
The update also includes a balance pass for the game’s various classes and introduces Season 10 of the Legendary Items Reward Track. There’s plenty of fixes and other adjustments one would expect to find in any major game update, too.
A new supporter pack, titled the Whimsical Patrons Coffer, is also available for purchase beginning today. The pack includes an exclusive horse mount that features an adorable carrying basket with a cute kitten. Perfect for all the cat lovers out there.
