After nearly a day of downtime to address a major bug after update 33 went live, The Lord of the Rings Online is now back up, albeit with a rollback.
When the team applied the update yesterday at the usual expected downtime, things quickly changed. An hour after the worlds reopened, they were taken back down “while we investigate an issue with Rune-keeper satchels”. Then, with continued downtime happening, there were updates every hour, th etween them. The updates were optimistic about getting the servers back up late last night, but that didn’t ultimately work out. en with a little more time in between them. The updates were optimistic about getting the servers back up late last night, but that didn’t ultimately work out. After coming back up this morning, Standing Stone released more info as promised:
The game worlds were brought down on Wednesday, April 20th to correct an issue with some Rune-keeper satchels not appearing in inventory. We have rolled back the game worlds to an earlier state from this morning. Please note that your game world progress is back to the state it was as of 7:00 AM Eastern (-4 GMT) this morning.
Rune-keeper characters will see their proper items after logging into the game world. We apologize for today's issues. Players who made purchases in the LOTRO Store after 7:00 AM Eastern through the worlds being brought down today will see their purchases automatically refunded over the next 24 hours. If you previously claimed your 15th Anniversary gifts you will receive them again when you next log in.
Though the rollback seems to mean as of 7am yesterday, April 20th. But all should be good to go now.
The Yondershire is a significant update not just for bringing the 15th anniversary celebrations, but for the titular new section of The Shire that arrives with it. The Yondershire is an area in the north in an area filled with thickets and fens in a more unwelcoming segment of the lands. This means that those who decide to live up there in this more uncomfortable section of The Shire have their reasons for doing so.
While this was undoubtedly frustrating, there is a whole lot waiting for players with this update. All of the original content and expansions up through Helm’s Deep and level 95, races like the High-elf and Beorning, and more content has been added for free enjoyment for all players.
