The Lord of the Rings Online Update 44, Crown of Hamât, is here, with a free quest pack for VIPs, endgame difficulty tweaks, and more. For all players, there’s the MMO’s 18th anniversary event too.
The 18th anniversary event begins tomorrow at 10:00 a.m Eastern and continues until May 12th at 3:00 a.m. EDT. The 18th anniversary gift box login reward will become available for those who acquired the 17th anniversary box when the event opens. Contents include the Eighteen-Year Frame, fireworks, and a new title. The anniversary event also has new rewards to collect as well via the Anniversary Festival Barter (Baker's Delight outfit, banner, mount, and furniture), Anniversary Steel Token Barter (fireworks), and Festivity Anniversary Barter (weapons).
Update 44’s Crown of Hamât quest pack is free for VIP members. The starting quest should now be available. The pack adds 50 new quests and deeds to complete, and 10 new missions. Pack rewards include new housing items, Tome of the Russet Corgi, and Tome of the Evergreen Sickle-fly. On May 7th, a new six-player level 150 instance, Dun Shûma, the King’s Fortress will unlock.
VIP players also get an expanded Favored Reputation system, based on the response to Legacy of Morgoth. All characters on a VIP account will get a bonus to earned reputation whenever a character reaches Friend rank or higher with a Reputation faction.
Other changes include a revamped Lalia’s Market, Homesteading Coins, a new currency that will eventually replace Premium Housing Writs, and increased endgame instance difficulty oon legendary servers Angmar and Mordor following the release of Mirkwood.
