It's Hobbit Day, September 22nd, and The Lord of the Rings Online is getting in on the festivities. In celebration of Frodo and Bilbo's shared birthday, the MMO is hosting a party of special magnificence now through September 26th.
September 22nd is a big day in the lore of The Lord of the Rings as it's the shared birthday of two admirable Hobbits: Bilbo and Frodo Baggins of the Shire! The Lord of the Rings Online's birthday celebration event is now live in-game, bringing the celebrations to the Shire and beyond today through September 26th. Players can kick off their quests with Frodo's Request in Imladris, and from there the romp throughout The Shire begins.

You can learn more about the event and the ways to complete it over at LotRO-Wiki. The celebration only runs through the weekend, so you'll need to jump in on it fast to celebrate.
In other LotRO news, pre-purchase opened up for the upcoming mini-expansion, Before the Shadow. The new content update has three versions, ranging starting at $19.99 up through $99 for the Ultimate Fan Bundle, the main differentiators between them being cosmetics, storage space and more. Before the Shadow adds in a new starter leveling experience from levels 1-32, not really replacing the current Epic Story Quests, but rather adding another option for players who are starting out, or older vets jumping on that 15th Alt character.
Additionally, last week Severlin teased next year's expansion as a place where players who enjoy the "smell of salt water" will enjoy. We speculated as to where that could mean Standing Stone Games is taking us next, hopefully in my opinion, the Grey Havens.
