The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online are both back up after a weekend-long outage. Standing Stone Games has kept the community updated while the worked on the issues, and have now announced the return of both MMOs.
Issues at the data center took both games down back on March 30th around 9:45 am EDT, and the team was quick to let the community know that LOTRO and DDO would be unavailable on Saturday while they put their heads down to fix the issues. The unexpected downtime stretched longer and longer, with continued updates to both communities going out throughout Saturday and into yesterday.
The intermittent updates continued stating similar things, namely that they were continuing to work on the server issues and to reopen the games. Some of these mentioned work overnight to get things operational again, and many hoped they could get in some time on the weekend, but this wasn’t to be.
Last night, they updated that they would try to reopen the games overnight, but if that didn;t happen, we’d hear more in the morning. And now, on April 1st, but no joke, The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online have both reopened as of about 11:30 AM EDT.
In an X (Twitter) post, the team said : “The game worlds have reopened. We apologize for the inconvenience over the unexpected downtime. We’ll see you in game!”. One community member joked in the responses that “Your next post better not say April Fools ??”.
The game worlds have reopened. We apologize for the inconvenience over the unexpected downtime. We’ll see you in game! #LOTRO

But it is true, while the weekend has been lost, it is a new month, and the servers are up again.
