For fans waiting to hear Nintendo Switch and Legend of Zelda news, today's Nintendo Direct had some. After apologizing for not having an update on the sequel to Breath of the Wild, Eiji Aonuma revealed the next Zelda game to hit the handheld console: Skyward Sword.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will be coming to the Nintendo switch, complete with the motion controls found in the original Wii release. Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma broke down the control scheme for the HD remaster of the Zelda game, as well as revealed that some of the design elements seen in Breath of the Wild can actually find their origins in Skyward Sword, such as the Stamina meter.
Also coming with Skyward Sword are themed Joy-Cons kitted out to look like the Master Sword and the Hylian Shield, a nice touch for those players who seek to enjoy the game in its original control scheme. Fear not, those of us who can't stand motion controls, the game will feature fully mapped out button controls as well.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD tells some of the origins of the Zelda series as it's the first game in the official timeline. You can check out Skyward Sword HD on the Nintendo Switch on July 16th.
