Earlier in January, we learned of an upcoming documentary for The Last of Us Part II, which was set to release sometime after the launch of The Last of Us Part II: Remastered. No release date was given at that time, but we now know the doc will arrive on February 2.
The doc, which is titled Grounded II: The Making of The Last of Us Part II, is a sequel to Grounded: The Making of The Last of Us. Released back in 2014, the roughly 90 minute documentary gave players a behind-the-scenes look at the development of the first game in the series. This latest doc will release as part of a free game update coming February 2, and will do the same for TLOU2. Those who don’t own The Last of Us Part II: Remastered will be able to watch the doc on YouTube when it goes live at 12PM ET.
The two minute trailer released earlier this month features development footage going all the way back to 2016 and even focuses on some of the not-so-fun parts of game development, like when a massive leak spoils significant plot details before the game’s release. Game director Neil Druckmann also offers his own insights into the development of the game.
The Last of Us Part II: Remastered is out now on the PlayStation 5.
