The Faithful Companion - Weapon Upgrading Detailed

The Blade & Soul team has published a new article that reveals details behind one of the game's more unique features: Upgrading weapons. In the earliest stages of the game, players will receive a Hongmoon weapon that will remain with them throughout the balance of the game. 

During battles, enemies will drop other weapons and players will receive special training crystals as quest rewards. These can then be used to "imbue your own weapon with their strength". By so doing, the weapon's level increases that increase its base power and attributes. At Stage 5, players will need to find a specific rare weapon or artifact to "breakthrough" to Stage 6 where the journey begins again to get the weapon to Stage 10. Breakthrough materials are not always easy to find, dropped by the most difficult monsters or components only found through repeatable quests in specific locations. 

In addition to the above,  players can also accessorize their weapons that also increase power. Accessory upgrades follow the same breakthrough pattern as above.
