Update 39 for the base game has arrived on all platforms for The Elder Scrolls Online. The new patch offers a number of quality of life improvements, new PvP options, and overhauls to quests and content.
The ESO team sought to make questing a little less cluttered, particularly in the earlier parts of the game, so they’ve made some changes to help. One of those changes effectively level-gates some NPCs and content, which some might find increases linearity. Some quest NPCs will simply not be visible to players until they are of a particular level. This is an older game by now, so it makes sense they’ve looked for ways to freshen the early game experience.
Overall, the goal is to open up access to certain quests more gradually over time as you level up, to reduce the volume and perhaps indecisiveness over what to do next. This could maintain someone's attention for longer if they felt overwhelmed and didn't get through a lot of the content they had in their journal to begin with. Also in this update, relevant Navigator NPCs in Tamriel may have a door ‘pin’ over their heads. Not only can they send you where you need to go, their dialogue has been tweaked to make sure you are guided in the right direction.
Other changes will help all players. A number of similar Crown Store items can now be stacked using the Stack All Items option. You can also easily see which items in your inventory can or can’t be sold.
PvP death notifications are now an option to have in Cyrodiil, letting you know who might be closing in on you and on a hot streak. These notifications will show which player beat the other player, where that death happened, and the alliance ranks of others in that battle. there are also crossed sword indicators when there are three or more kills in one area in a short period of time. This alerts you to high danger zones and let you get into help your allies or to stay away out of danger.
There are three new Cyrodiil Monster Masks to acquire, each with their own bonuses to help you go even further in PvP. PvP face and body markings also get some new options with the Unfeathered Battle markings.
Other features in the patch include new and updated achievements, item set sourcing improvements, new furnishings, the ability to place your furnishings from your inventory, and more.
