Update 44 for The Elder Scrolls Online will also add two optional new companions. The team shared a lore entry for the first, the mysterious High Elf Tanlorin, and now has a preview of the second companion – the Khajiit necromancer Zerith-Var.
The lore entry is once again in the form of a letter. Zerith-Var is not only a necromancer, he is an acolyte in an ancient order, the Order of the Hidden Moon. Another member of the order gives impressions of what travel with Zerith-Var is like, and his dedication.
“Zerith is warm and easy-going, making friends wherever we travel. But he takes his service to Azurah seriously, endeavoring never to stray from his twilight path. I am every day in awe of his commitment, for he makes it look so very easy.”
Zerith is also described as askilled Warrior and his fellow order member, Ravith, is not, but is inspired to learn battle songs and keep training with the Khajiit. Although there are hints that he might like gambling games a little too much, but as noted, “Zerith’s upbringing gave him light fingers, so we are never in want of anything—rather, never anything that another might sorely miss”. There's more to discover, including why time seems a bit off here.
When you get him and complete his quest, his passive perk will be to quickly highlight loot for you, so that checks out.
The preview sets up just what awaits when the update is out:“Zerith-var is a formidable warrior, a master of undeath, and one of Azurah’s most faithful followers. However, he now finds himself lost and in need of a guide and comrade-in-arms. Will you accompany Zerith-var on his journey of rediscovery and crusade against the Twilight Queen’s enemies?”
ESO Plus members will have access to both companion recruitment quests, or each will be available for purchase. Update 44 will be out on PC and Mac on October 28th and November 13th on console,
