The Elder Scrolls Online is experiencing extended downtime after a datacenter power failure. The North American and European megaservers, The Elder Scrolls Online account page and website have all been down most of the day.
They advised that this will take a significant amount of time to fully repair and restore. At one point, they estimated up to 12 hours of work needed, and they are still working on the issues.
There’s no word on whether there’s any potential data loss yet, but if you need updates on what's going on, you can pay attention to The Elder Scrolls Online forums, where Senior Creative Engagement Manager Gina Bruno has continued posting regular updates as they come in. The ESO social media accounts, as well as the Bethesda support account are also worth keeping an eye on.
The ZeniMax team has been keeping the community updated on these outages, and they did restore some power, but there's a lot of work still to be done.
“Just to give everyone an update, some power has been restored to a number of critical pieces in the datacenter, but there is still a lot of work to be done. We'll plan to provide another update in a couple hours.”
Reactions across the community seem to be mostly understanding and acknowledgment that the team is working on it, and some are already asking about compensation. The ESO team will surely announce something on that eventually, but naturally, the priority will be to get the game and the data center up and running, tested, and power fully restored.
