On April 4, 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online was released. ZeniMax is planning its big event in Amsterdam tomorrow (and streamed live globally), but there’s a lot going on in ESO land overall.
The team marked the 10th anniversary with social media posts along with an anniversary image and a thank you to the community. “Today we celebrate 10 years of adventures in Tamriel. Thank you for joining us on this incredible ongoing journey.”

There’s more to celebrate with, including ways to deepen your adventures in-game. In addition to the anniversary event in-game, which has more bonuses this year, it’s also Free Play time once again. The Free Play event lets anyone jump into the base game and start adventuring in Tamriel, access to four classes, 24 zones, and PvP modes. This trial mode is open from now through April 9th on all platforms. If you participate in this (or in any previous) free play events, if you buy the game, your progress is saved and you can continue onward. They’re also gifting 500 Crowns to any new account.
If you are already familiar with The Elder Scrolls Online, but might have lapsed in playing all of the content, there’s also a spring sale on now that offers discounts on the base game, Crowns, and a special sale on Necrom. The sale will happen across all platforms, with staggered dates.
Finally, if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, then you can unlock some bonus items and free goodies. There’s a special 10th anniversary pack (10th Anniversary Pack #1 –as they promise more of these packs this year) to claim that gives you three Grand Gold Coast Experience Scrolls, and 500 Seals of Endeavor. These items are available from now through June 2nd.
