The Elder Scrolls Online is introducing us to another one of the companions we will get to meet in the upcoming Necrom chapter, the arcanist Azandar al-Cybiades.
The Arcanist is the new class that is coming in Necrom, so making one of our companions an Arcanist might make for a pretty impressive team if you choose to play one yourself. As with other lore entries of this nature, we get to ‘meet’ him via a letter written by one Elydrina Nathriin, of Shad Astula Academy.
And it is quite the mention, beginning with “But I must draw the line at supporting, endorsing, or in any way condoning a collaboration with the arcanist extraordinaire, Azandar al-Cybiades”. So what is behind such a statement? Alzandar is quite talented, and describing him as “arcanist extraordinaire” doesn’t seem like too much of an exaggeration, based on the rest of the letter. Elydrina is issuing a warning to her cousin to not collaborate with him, while at the same time, praising his abilities.
“A world-class talent armored in a cocksure attitude, anchored by a devotion to needlessly complex wordplay, and blinded by a complete lack of understanding that his actions have consequences. You know my own academic history with the man, and you still want to pursue a collaboration?”
It seems that he has a reputation for being difficult and a bit too cocky. Which might be an understatement. This comes with charisma, which he seems to use to back up his ability, as someone whose origins are more meager than most this advanced in their power, especially in this society with all the old Houses.
Under what circumstances you will meet in Necrom is yet to be seen, Given that these lower entries are written from a particular point of view, you'll have to judge for yourself if you can trust him.
