Gold Road and Update 42 have launched for The Elder Scrolls Online’s console editions. This means that those who’ve wanted to dive into the new Chapter, check out Scribing, and help make sense of just what has been going on in the West Weald are now able to do so on all platforms. For the base game, Update 42 adds a number of improvements, fixes, and quality of life tweaks.
The Shadow Over Morrowind narrative concludes in Gold Road, with the Daedric prince Ithelia now returned and a new threat unfolds. Explore the West Weald, take on quests, meet the population of these Imperial provinces, down to the Wood Elves who have taken up in the area after the jungles of Valenwood suddenly began to spread, and fight against the new Daedric threat.
One of the centerpieces of the chapter is the Scribing system. This offers a chance to unlock bonuses that let you customize your abilities using Grimoires. You can select a base grimoire and use a number of scripts that you unlock to create abilities that you can use to tailor your build. Unlock the system and put it into use by taking on the Scribing questline (and earn some rewards for doing so, including a special mount).
Explore around by taking on the main quest, side quests, in addition to new features like delves, public dungeons, and world events. The Lucent Citadel 12-person Trial sends you into a Daedric vault to find and get the mysterious Arcane Know. The new Mirrormoor Incursions world event presents a ritual you need to stop, with some features different each time.
Update 42 is full of improvements, from a number of changes to improve the mail system overall, like being able to claim stuff faster and organize your inbox more easily, and a number of environmental sustainability features from Xbox’ efforts. These include reduced GPU use and screen dimming during inactivity, and more.
There's much more in the details on these big updates, including rewards, new Tales of Tribute Patron Deck, and much more.
