The recently-delayed (again) The Day Before, which devs planned to delay before being hit with a trademark claim, may be getting some promised gameplay footage tomorrow after all.
When Fntastic delayed the game, they said it was because they had failed to trademark the title before someone else did. They delayed the game from March 1 to November 10th as a result, they claimed. Then, the team admitted that pinning the newest delay on the trademark claim was an excuse, and the delay was already planned. Public doubt unsurprisingly grew, especially after this admission.
Due to the trademark issue, they claimed they could not show a 10-minute gameplay video that they said would show people what The Day Before really looks and plays like. Skeptics have had some doubts after the team put out a call for volunteers to help them finish development, and then later giving a comment to say that there was a mix of unpaid and part time work as well.
Today, on the game’s Discord, came an official post with the promise of that 10-minute video tomorrow.
“But hold onto your hats, because the excitement doesn't stop there! Get ready to immerse yourself in a world of pure hype, as we unveil a 10-minute gameplay extravaganza, on our YouTube channel. Tune in tomorrow, for an experience like no other. Trust us, this is one reveal you won't want to miss! Stay tuned for more updates and information.”
After the latest delay and the lack of gameplay footage, some had wondered if the development was anywhere near where Fntastic said it was, and some even wondered if they had anything at all. Recent announcements, like placing The Day Before in an Nvidia CES showcase lent the project more credibility. It seems that the team is looking to win the confidence of those who aren’t so sure about supporting the project.
