The Elder Scrolls Online team continues to preview what is coming in the Necrom chapter next month. This time, they take us into the inhabitants and give a peek into the bestiary of Apocrypha.
Apocrypha is Hermaeus Mora’s realm and the center of his vast knowledge and power. This location will be just one of the areas you can explore in Necrom. All of that knowledge and the power it confers is the subject of intense competition, and this is before you get to the monsters in the area.
The first type of note in the preview are The Seekers. The Seekers are all around Apocrypha and they are levitating and tentacled Daedra that will be found where the knowledge is. In this region, that’s pretty much everywhere. They are loyal to Mora and they share some things in common with him.
Michael Zenke, ESO’s loremaster says, “The average Seeker will not pause to engage a mortal in Apocrypha in pleasant conversation. They instinctively feel that intruding mortals are a danger that should be destroyed immediately”.You should be on the lookout for the seekers, but pay particular attention for the ancient Seeker known as the Prime Cataloguer. This one is waiting to be challenged by the right group.
Other creatures in the area include the Lurkers, who you will find roaming about the shorelines and low-lying areas. They are big hulking monsters but they're also quite fast. like the Seekers, there is also a very old formidable Lurker to challenge.
The Hushed are “theorized to be the husks of mortal loreseekers who have been degraded both mentally and physically after peering too long into the Lord of Knowledge’s darkest secrets”. Pleasant. They have no mouths and must scream wander around the depths and pose another form of danger.
The preview closes out with the Mind Terrors. Unlike some of the other creatures you’ll find, they are opposed to Mora. “Although Mind Terrors prowl across various regions of Apocrypha, they seem oddly distinct from the realm’s other inhabitants. They appear almost alien when compared to Mora’s spawn and seem to act in opposition to the Prince’s goals.”
So what awaits? They feast on terror and inspire fear, so be prepared. Naturally, there’s also a special Mind Terror to challenge, known as the Walking Nightmare.
