The Wild West Online site has been updated with the first in a series of monthly developer blogs to update the community about what the team is working to bring to the game. November's letter reveals big changes coming to the new player experience and to several other key features in WWO.
A number of new systems are being put into place for new players to "make the game fun from Day 1". These include choosing a faction, forming groups with other faction members, and an overhauled Skill Tree that removes ties to specific factions.
The economy is also being tweaked to allow acquisition of gold whether you're a miner or someone who participates mainly in World Events. "The main idea is that your familiarity with the game and skill is the major driving force for your prosperity in the world."
Other changes include:
- a pair of new Public Events: The Stagecoach Robbery and The Hot Air Balloon
- alterations on the Bank Robbery system
- Relic Hunting to become more challenging and rewarding
- Mounted Horseback Combat
- The Hunting Grounds as a place to hunt wild animals
- Quest System updates
- Treasure Maps & Hunting for XP and money
- QoL changes
