After being delayed out of 2024, Weta Workshop's upcoming cozy Hobbit game, Tales of the Shire, has a new release date.
Celebrating Hobbit Day, which is the same day as the in-universe birthdays of both Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, Weta showcased its upcoming cozy life sim, and talked about some of the inspirations behind the mechanics and in-game world. Set in Bywater, you take the role of a Hobbit newly moved to the Shire from Bree-town, eager to live a comfortable life. You'll farm, forage, fish, and most of all, cook and eat with other Hobbits who live in the area, including favorites such as Farmer Cotton and even the dour Ted Sandyman.
After being delayed to get more time to work on making the experience as good as it can be, a new release date was revealed on stream, with Tales of the Shire launching now on March 25th, 2025. This is a significant date in The Lord of the Rings, as this is the day that the Ring was destroyed and Sauron defeated, so it's fitting that the team chose it as the new release date.

We had the chance to check out Tales of the Shire in a demo ahead of yesterday's announcement and should have impressions on the site this week.
