Fans will be waiting a bit longer to build their own Hobbit hole, as the upcoming Lord of the Rings cozy game, Tales of the Shire has been delayed to 2025.
“All of us here at Weta Workshop are excited to have you join us in the Shire, a peaceful corner of J.R.R Tolkien’s world. When a new Hobbit steps into Bywater for the very first time, we want that moment to be everything you’re hoping for,” the official delay statement reads.
“To ensure we deliver that vision, Tales of the Shrine will now be launching early 2025.”

However, the developer also stated that it will showcase the game on Hobbit Day (September 22nd, the birthdays of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins) and that new information about the game's release date will also be available at that showcase.
Tales of the Shire was first revealed in April of this year and is set to release across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The cozy game aims to let players effectively live the life of a Hobbit. You’ll create your own Hobbit, decorate your own Hobbit Hole (which remember, means comfort), and travel throughout the Shire visiting iconic places such as the Party Tree and more.
We played the game at Summer Game Fest 2024, and came away pretty impressed with the build so far, especially in what is becoming a rather crowded market for cozy games, with Kazuma really enjoying the “no stress approach” to its host of cozy game mechanics.
