On November 7th, Guild Wars 2 will release its first update for the Secrets of the Obscure expansion. “Through the Veil” will feature a new map, new activities, improvements to precious content, and more.
You’ll take the fight to the Kryptis, with the new explorable Inner Nayos map, which is the final new map of this expansion, but it will expand later. Head further into Nayos, the Realm of Dreams to continue the story, encounter the Kryptis and work to counter them in their efforts to invade Tyria. The map also sets up a new mastery track to complete, with this new track leading into a new encounter type called Convergences.
Convergences are public events, with rifts spawning in an area. This new event type expands on some of the initial rift hunting that came with part one of Secrets of the Obscure. This activity will allow up to 50 players to take on this new threat from the Kryptis. As for another challenge on the day, the Cosmic Observatory Strike Mission gets a new difficulty mode.
This new chapter in the expansion will also bring some new rewards to the Wizard’s Vault, with three new armor pieces, new weapon set color variation, and a new infusion among them. Starting with this update, prior season rewards will also continue to be available through a new “Legacy Rewards” tab. Adding to character options will be the arrival of new relics, to allow for new character build types.
ArenaNet is continuing this new expansion cadence with promises of more content on the way consistently into 2024 for Secrets of the Obscure owners. On November 28th, there will be a chance to try a new weapon for your favorite profession and until December 3rd, there will be a beta that will let you demo the upcoming expanded weapons proficiencies feature. This will be before the next major expansion update to come.
