The Valheim team is giving a peek into what’s going on in development of the Ashlands, the next biome in development now.
With the development of the Ashlands, Iron Gate made a promise to be much more transparent and to have more frequent development updates along the way. The newest devblog is just that, showing off concept art, and pointing out a few of the previous peeks done via social media of weapons, fortresses, and even terrain tests and early production on models. So far, the devs are bringing the community along, and the new blog continues this.
This time around, they propose the idea that the waters around the Ashlands might be inhabited by a creature that made passage more difficult, along with a preview of concept art for the new BoneMaw Serpent. This is just the beginning, as the new biome is intended to draw inspiration from dark places and even horror. The BoneMaw Serpent does not look like something you will want to encounter in your travels.
The team also offers an update on Hildir’s Quest, along with a peek at where you’ll find her and some new server settings. The content is currently in testing, and they’re also branching out with new modes. Casual mode, which means no gear loss on death, easy mode, and hard mode, are all being tested. They're looking for us to have engaging content, with options for different types of players who might want a difficult task and those who might want a more relaxed approach and a different kind of challenge. Hildir’s Quest will also bring the It's requested option to wear a helmet and still have your hair visible.
Work on the Ashlands continues, and Valheim is still riding off a year of success, multi-platform release, and GamePass inclusion.
