Survival sandbox Fractured Veil will cease development according to an announcement made on the game’s official Twitter/X account.

The game’s developer, Paddle Creek Games, didn’t provide any additional details on the reasoning behind the game’s closure. The only information provided states that the Discord server will remain active “for a few months” though the game’s Steam page will be taken down in just days on October 8.

Fractured Veil raised over 110,000 on Kickstarter back in 2021 and its development has been marred by delays ever since, missing targets of launching into early access in 2022 until eventually making it onto Steam in 2024. Unfortunately, Steam Early Access hasn’t been much of a success for the game with an all time peak concurrent user count of 129 since launching into early access in January.

Fractured Veil was a survival sandbox game set on an apocalyptic version of Maui filled with a variety of nightmarish fiends. The game promised a 64 square kilometer open world, dungeons to explore, items to craft, and of course, character progression. Unfortunately, Steam reviews have been in the negative for some time now, owed in large part due to complaints about long load times, inadequate inventory management, and frustrating combat.
